Any damage to life and property has not been reported
Earthquake of measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale hit Nangloi in Delhi at 5:02 am today.
However, the tremors were of low intensity. There was no immediate report of any damage to life or property confirmed by India’s National center for Seismology.
Earlier, earthquake tremors were felt on December 17 (Thursday) at 11.45 pm. Due to this, people got scared and came out of their homes. According to JL Gautam, director (operations) of the Seismology Department of the Indian Meteorological Department, the intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale.
Earlier, an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit Delhi-NCR on the night of December 18.
The tremors prompted people to come out of their homes in fear. Meanwhile, there are reports of any casualties or damage to properties.
It is worth mentioning that the earthquake measuring less than five on Richter Scale are unlikely to cause large-scale damage, unless in case of weak or compromised structures.
The fact about Delhi is that it is prone to big earthquakes as the city falls in seismic zone IV – a very high-risk zone.
