Popular actor Javed Jaffrey, who started his career as an actor has worked in some really good movies like Oh darling ye hai India, Jajantram Mamanatram, Salaam Namaste, Dhamaal series, Singh is king, and the blockbuster movie, 3 Idiots.

Likewise, in his television career, he hosted popular shows like ‘Boogie Woogie’ which was also India’s Dance reality show. Also, he gave his voice in shows like Takeshi’s Castle and to many of Disney’s Hindi cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Don Carnage.

Talking to a popular media channel he spoke about his 35-year long career and how he had to face challenges because of his first hit movie and how the villain role cause him much trouble.


His first movie was Meri Jung directed by Showman ‘Subhash Ghai’ which provided him success but also became a problem for him.

As per the excerpts from the interview, he states that Subhash Ghai’s movie proved to be a success but created a problem for him as he played the villain’s role in that movie and so his image was created as a villain. And, so he wasn’t quite happy with the villain roles in his early career.

Also, it took a long for him to get more good and positive roles. Likewise, about television, he told that when he first started working on Television people asked him to avoid it and that only actors who nothing to do go on Television.

But Javed Jaffrey insisted that TV has a separate audience. Furthermore, he came into contact with the younger generation through Channel V and then the successful show ‘Boogie Woogie’ which made him a star overnight.

He told that year 2000 was sort of savior for him as he got to work in movies, ‘Jajantram Mamantram’, then Salaam Namaste which brought him much-needed relief.

But, he has some complaints too like this term ‘character actor’ which he couldn’t understand till date. Further stating he said that every actor is a character, then it’s hero or heroine.


Also, he played a significant role in the newly released Coolie no. 1 directed by David Dhawan. Likewise, in the future, he would be seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming movie ‘Suryavanshi’ and Sara Ali Khan’s ‘Bhoot Police’.
