You might need more than just a corona virus vaccine if you are looking to travel next year.

A few technology based companies are working continuously in order to create apps for your phone so that you upload information about your COVID-19 tests and vaccines that will subsequently create a virtual pass which would allow you to get into flights or other events like sports, concerts or movies.

The Commons Project taken up by The World Economic Forum and Common Pass is basically creating a trusted, global platform for people to disclose their COVID-19 status including health declarations, PCR tests or vaccinations to satisfy the entry requirements of a country while protecting the health data privacy of these people.

Meanwhile, Common Pass while providing information on its site disclosed that it provides individuals with a place to access lab results and vaccination records, and an option of giving consent to have that information which will further be used to validate their COVID-19 status without disclosing any other underlying personal health information.

The platform will further assess your lab results or vaccination records if they are coming from a trusted source and satisfy the country’s health screening requirements, where we are entering.

Further explaining, the website said that the Common Pass will give a direct yes or no answer on whether you meet the entry criteria or not.

As per the website, Common Pass and the Common Trust Network aims to enable more safer air and cross border travel by ensuring the government becomes confident about each traveler’s COVID-19 status.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the only digital COVID-19 pass we would be seeing in the coming future.

Meanwhile, IBM has created a Digital Health Pass, which provides the organizations with a unique way of getting back to normalcy by bringing back the general population into workplaces, flights, schools and stadiums.

IBM said that the solution is intended to enable organizations verify health records of employees, customers and visitors entering their workplace based on criteria that the organization have specified.

Further adding that the digital wallet will allow individuals to have better control over their information and its safe sharing.

Another company, Linux public Health have devised two corona virus exposure apps COVID Green and COVID Shield and started deploying them in countries like Canada, Ireland.

Meanwhile, Apple and Google working together have created a unique “exposure notification” technology which will alert phone users if they have spent time near a person who have tested positive for the corona virus.

The said technology uses Bluetooth short-range radio signals to find out if the two phones are at a close distance long enough for a person to pass on the virus. Most states describe close contact as coming within a distance of 6 feet for a minimum of 15 minutes at a given point of time.

Even though the vaccine continues to be distributed in some countries, there are no signs of any regulations put in place which requires people to get a vaccine in order to enter venues, states or countries. But, there are some states requiring that you either have tested negative for Corona virus or will quarantine yourself before you enter their territory.
